30. More on the Ideal Trade Blocks

I have written about trade block arrangement in my past economy related blogs. I thought I will reiterate a bit more on those.

For me, the definition of a trade block to which a country subscribes into is as follows:

• The trade block is a geographically congruous (even if a large water body is separating the member nations). Please refer to my article - https://www.mayoan.com/economy/01.-an-alternate-view-on-economics .

• The member nations have value systems that are compatible and comparable. Please refer to my article on value systems at - https://www.mayoan.com/post/7-about-the-value-system .

• Because of the geographical proximity, they may have a shared flora, fauna and marine ecosystems and thus the members can pool their resources and deploy them in an unified manner and make unified attempt to realize the concept of "Vashudevakudumbakam".

• The members can have a combined posture towards concepts such as global warming, UNSDG 2030, climate change, urban forests, minimalist living, healthy eating and lifestyles. Because the value systems are compatible and comparable, the following advantages are realised:

• Easy labour movement because of the similar nature of educational, security, economic and societal conditions.

• Labour market can be made stable at the trade block level and at the national level due to mutual collaboration and openness driving trust settings since all the nations will be focusing their attention on the national economic interests and the block level economic interests.

• The expected synergy among the member nations of the trade block with a realistic projection of their national potential and the trade block potential can deliver a long enduring prosperous growth to the whole region.

• The trade level planning and implementation followed by the deriving national level planning and implementation can make best use of the human and economic resources for wholesome development while continuously building and improving the internal partnerships and relations.

• Reduction in crime and other dark economic activities

• Improved trustworthy international relations within the trade block

• Sharing of external security related posturing

• Cooperating with the members of trade block for developing advanced industrial complexes to harness the following domains – military, security, education, healthcare, energy, construction, technology, space and water etc.,

• Scope for better planning of the macro and micro economic strategies overlayed over the full economic potential of the trade block in a highly optimised manner

• The policy of give and take can be implemented across the trade block to address the long-term, short-term shocks of the economy and to make the whole trade system fall proof!

• A highly transparent trade block also promotes regional stability and internal trust settings

• Such a trust filled trade block can be an economic powerhouse for the globe and such a block can be a formidable alliance in the world stage.

• Elder care can also be exemplary. Imagine if some elders get bored at a national elder care center and they can be shifted to any elder care center within trade block with no charge to them without impacting their medical care. How much fun can this be to them ? How much this can men to the nation wide quality of living?

For instance, in such a trade block, there can be a guaranteed free educational system where students can freely move about even while they are pursuing their studies to various parts of the trade block with all their expenses paid up. Imaging the cultural acclimatization that will happen at scale!

All the needs will be expected to be met locally as much as possible and for other important needs the first search can happen inside the trade block before looking at the larger world market!

Layoffs, shutdowns, M&As all can be planned in a much clearer manner and without any kind of loss or attritions or with as minimum loss as possible.

Ownership and inheritance supported, the selling and owning of assets can be supported by sound financial, economic and social policies of the government that derives the policies from the trade block level policies.

It is prudent if we realize that within the trade block, sometimes the national policies can take precedence and at other times trade block level policies can take precedence and that the existing transparency will remove any element of doubts and mistrusts. Besides the concept of one-for-all and all-for-one can be easily implemented if the members operate in a transparent manner while sharing all the necessary strategic data.

If such a powerful trade block comes into play, the member nations of such an organization can be self-sufficient and the members of such a trade block need not be members of other trade alliances or bilateral agreements on a individual basis. All external facing agreements can be at the block level benefitting potentially all the members of the trade block.
