I was going through the book mentioned in the references section just to understand the overview of subject content analysed in the past by various distinguished experts.

I came to an understanding that the field of Psychology had indeed been blessed with great thinkers and achievers whose contribution, time and again, has led the various governments to frame groundbreaking and influential policies governing the population.

With that great respect in mind, I would like to contribute some writings in this aspect.

I reiterate that we are “inner” people, energy loyalists and as advanced souls in human form, an involutionist too. The field of Psychology is our attempt to trace the curve of involution! The beauty of our knowledge base and the educational systems, is that, even if a few path-breakers trace this curve of involution, many gain by that subject matter. To me, that is a quantum leap to the entire mankind!

Ancient scripts talk about the methods of education or alternately referred as sources of knowledge (Pramanas or Alavais) to the soul as follows:

1.     Perception (Pratyaksa) – Reveals the reality of material substances. (e.g. Imagine how a newborn will look at this world and learn)

2.      Inference (Anumana)- Inference yields valid knowledge when it obeys the logical rules of correctness. (e.g. Sun is still in the east as the shadow is falling on towards the west)

3.     Comparison (Upamana) – Comparison is the knowledge of the relation between a name and things so named on the basis of a given description of their similarity to some familiar object. (e.g. “Deer” as a common name for a host of species resembling the common properties/attributes of the deer).

4.     Testimony (Sabda) – (e.g. voice of the Guru or the Teacher) This is the basis for our current educational systems. This is also the guidance system available to the newborn as – sensory perceptions and conditioning by the parents, neighbourhoods and communities.

If we look at ourselves as the descendants of hunters/gatherers, we can identify the above 4 methods as our primordial gurus! The same is the root cause for the raise of “Philosophy” as a major field of study and for the raise of various religions and belief systems! This is the basis on which several ancient schools of thoughts aroused in India, led by great Rishis, as explained in my other article - https://www.mayoan.com/post/25-some-sytems-of-knowledge . After ‘Philosophy’ as a body of knowledge came the field of Geometry/Mathematics and then the exponential growth of the field of science. So even, we humans, as a group have already gone through several phases of involution in the past 3000 years from philosophy to geometry/mathematics to pure sciences etc. I hope the next stage will be the fusion of our understanding of the nature of this universe through the truthful spiritual platforms/knowledge-bodies and the progressive state of science as a major body of knowledge.

A person can gain by gathering, wisdom or by experience (self or others’). It is much easy to go by the ‘wisdom’ route relying on truthful sources. This is because, “experiences” may not be always pleasant. It is also considered ‘wisdom’ if you learn from other people’s experiences. Hence, I believe that our (truthful as much as possible) histories and biographies need to be taken seriously. Not to mention the personal history of your families coming via the grandparents and parents!

The learning of the soul is a bit deep and mystical when compared to what we generally learn as a human in an advanced system of education consisting of schools, colleges and universities. There is no doubt in my mind that our value systems are also strengthened by our proper schooling methods besides being a groundwork for better life. But I want to emphasize that the law of Karma looks at the belief system or value systems that we have adopted and persisted in the soul to judge us and in placing us in the right place in the universe in the right form for the expected karmic interactions. Perhaps the right way to express this value system of the soul would be to call it as sum total of our persisted/adopted value systems integrated over all the life forms that we individually assumed till now in our journey of life with destination as ‘Mukti’. Please remember that the value systems absorbed in soul changes based on the life experiences. This soul impressions, have a significant say in our subconscious state of mind . Please refer to - https://www.mayoan.com/post/77-subconsciousness .

We are in the process of developing our intelligence through many births and forms (evolution and involution) and in using that accumulated and newly gained intelligence to evaluate our current position vis-à-vis the state of Mukti and decide our course of run based on our accepted/persisted set of value systems or beliefs. The persistence part is adequately covered in my other article - https://www.mayoan.com/post/39-chittam-or-the-impressions-of-the-soul .

Our soul is a highly energetic, ball bobbing in a sea of dark matter and energy called MAHAT. It is the raison d'être that we are all existing. The soul evolutes/involutes into life forms and the stage for learning through experience and to gain wisdom is the “Prakruti”.

Thus, the true trinity of life is –

  • The soul in its learning journey

  • The Prakruti that serves as stage and properties

  • The Divine God and the provider of all and everything – the great Adi Para Sakthi!

This bobbing ball of energy inside us will NOT let us be at our peace if we are not aware about it! This is a major cognitive dissonance! All our Gnanendriyas and Karmendriyas are creating a Cat-5 storm of externally focussed experiences that makes you believe that this ‘material’ world is the only truth! It is next to impossible to wean a poor soul that is drenched in these experiences and make him see his inner self! The field of Psychology goes one level deep and identifies our 2nd Sheath – Manonmayakoshana (please refer to https://www.mayoan.com/post/26-the-panchakoshanas-or-5-sheaths ). Lot of meta rules or constructs have been identified by the field of Psychology that is helping us to understand the impact of this cat-5 storm on our mind, consciousness and our intelligence besides the memory management! The storage part or memory aspect is covering the brain aspects (which I refer to as cache memory) only and not yet pointing to the impressions of the soul, (which I refer to as the permanent storage)! We have to understand that a large part of a person as represented by his behaviour, expressions and conduct also derives from his/her soul impressions. No amount of regression analysis will lead to any conclusion as why a person his behaving the way he is, if his character is shaped by his past soul impressions. I hope that the field of Psychology will delve deeper with the help of spiritual body of knowledge in the coming times, to benefit all of mankind!
